New Name - The Kindred Shed

New Name - The Kindred Shed

Hey y’all,

I know the recent name change to my store may have come as a surprise, and I also know many of you have been wondering why. I wanted to take a moment to share openly and honestly—without gossip, negativity, or drama—because you deserve that.

My previous business partner and I have gone our separate ways, and I truly wish her nothing but the best as she continues to pursue her passion for creating soap. As for me, this store has always been more than just a storefront or a name.

The Red Shed Market represented a season of my life and business that has now come to a close. While I’m grateful for that chapter, I felt it was time for something new—something that reflected growth, purpose, and a deeper meaning. I needed a name that represented why I started this journey in the first place.

So here are my open and vulnerable answers.

I have always thrived in creativity. As an adult navigating ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and depression, my mind doesn’t always work the way it once did. I’ve had to learn new ways to adapt, grow, and show myself grace—and creativity has been a lifeline for me.

I also have a deep love for my community. My kids attend our local schools, and I’m honored to serve as a newly elected councilwoman for our city. Community matters to me deeply—it always has.

Most importantly, I am a Christian. Over the past several months, I’ve found myself praying more than I have in a very long time. Somewhere along the way, I lost focus on the mission God placed on my heart when I first opened the store. The Red Shed was meant to be a place that brought people joy, rest, and hope—but stress, worry, and frustration slowly took center stage.

While I believed God was still part of the store, the truth is, He wasn’t fully leading it anymore.

Recent events have helped me step back and see the bigger picture. Things I once thought were so important simply aren’t. This fresh start feels a little scary—but it also feels incredibly exciting. I’ve laid my worries down, and I’m choosing to trust God to lead both me and this store.

I realize this may sound “too religious” to some, but once you’ve experienced the kind of peace only God can give, you learn to follow it without hesitation.

So with that said—The Kindred Shed is the name, and it carries deep meaning. Kindred is a biblical term that speaks to family, community, and belonging. God has graciously given me all of those things, and I don’t intend to waste His gift.

Thank you for walking with me through this new chapter. I’m so glad you’re here.

Monica 🤍
